The Need. E-learning platforms are still navigating key challenges in fully supporting modern learners, especially working professionals seeking to advance their education. In this design sprint, the focus was to quickly prototype a platform that caters to their unique needs and demands. To ensure the design was truly aligned with user expectations, we conducted a comprehensive needs assessment. This evaluation highlighted specific gaps in existing platforms, allowing us to make informed design decisions and create a more intuitive, effective solution for busy professionals.

The Solution. To better serve learner needs, it's crucial to first understand who that learner is. We began by conducting a series of semi-structured interviews, surveys, and in-depth research to gather insights into the daily challenges, motivations, and preferences of our target audience. From this data, we developed a detailed user persona that captured the core characteristics, pain points, and learning goals of working professionals. This persona became the foundation of our design process, guiding every decision to ensure the platform was tailored to the real-world needs of this user base. By aligning features such as mobile accessibility, flexible pacing, and personalized content delivery, we created a solution that not only meets but enhances the learning experience for these busy professionals.

Enter ILA. Also known as the Interactive Learning Assistant (ILA), the platform was created with responsive features to customize the learning experience and maximize users' micromoments of learning. Using a spinner, learners are able to select the amount of time they have to insert a moment of learning. Packaged in a bundle of QuickIDEA's which stand for Interactive, Defining, Expression, and Application, users are able to capture micromoments of learning.
